Situation

TGI Cargo was approached to provide an end-to-end solution for the transportation of an ABP 320 HRT asphalt plant from the factory in Germany to Victoria, Australia. This specific type of plant is the most advanced technology for Asphalt Manufacturing, designed in Germany and built for Australian conditions.

Due to the large profile of the cargo, TGI Cargo faced many challenges transporting the equipment from factory to port, as well as gaining all necessary permits required. When the shipment arrived during the Australian winter, delivery to the Melbourne site was hindered by torrential rain. Access to the site was limited or unachievable on most days.

TGI Cargo made arrangements with the port to hold the cargo for a further 21 days, so the site could dry out to allow safe access. Without this solution, the size of the cargo would have meant a budget overrun in excess of $100,000. TGI Cargo negotiations offered the customer a solution, at no extra cost, and even in wet conditions, the project was delivered on time.
