Challenge

Working with a customer in Santander, Spain, TGI Cargo was asked to transport a new asphalt plant to the Port of Brisbane, Australia over the busy Christmas holiday period and then via a mountain range highway to Toowoomba, Queensland.

With specific site requirements and procedures requested in Spain and cargo arriving just before Christmas, there were several challenges to this project. There were many permit restrictions on out of gauge freight transport, as well as heavy restrictions to road movements, as holidaymakers filled the roads.

TGI Cargo also contended with transporting very heavy cargo 700m from the bottom to the top of the Toowoomba Range which added to the complexity of this move.

Partnering closely with the client made this challenging job easier and enabled TGI Cargo to deliver the project before the designated time frame. Manufacturing delays in Spain were overcome. On arrival in Australia, given the time of year, we were able to obtain permits and expedite cargo to Toowoomba with fewer problems than anticipated.
